Stuttgart. Nick Kyrgios of Australia has claimed that he faced racist comments from spectators during his loss to Andy Murray in the semi-finals of the Stuttgart Open tennis tournament. Kyrgios posted on Instagram after losing 7-6(5), 6-2 to Andy Murray that he heard derogatory comments from spectators in Saturday’s match.
Nick Kyrgios wrote on Instagram, ‘I have been playing tennis since I was 7 years old. Ever since I stepped onto the tennis court, I’ve kept my heart on my side. Yes, I am also human, I don’t treat my feelings well all the time. I stopped caring about what people think and their opinion on what I should be. I play this game for the people.

He further wrote, ‘When will all this stop? Facing racist comments from viewers? One thing I will never tolerate is abusing an athlete. Comments like ‘black sheep’ and ‘shut up and play’ are not acceptable at all. When I reply to the audience, I am punished. This is not correct.’

Andy Murray will play his first grasscourt singles final since winning Wimbledon in 2016, facing second seed Matteo Berrettini of Italy. Berrettini defeated Oscar Otte 7-6(7), 7-6(5) in a struggling match without a service break.
