London: Swiss tennis star Roger Federer was smiling and laughing at his own jokes when he spoke to the media on Wednesday ahead of the Liver Cup, the last competitive tournament of his career. During his 20 Grand Slam titles, the 41-year-old has also expressed emotion after a match win or loss, in which his eyes have also occasionally become tearful.

But when he came in front of the media to answer questions related to his retirement, he looked quite comfortable.

May my departure from tennis be a celebration: Federer
Federer will end his career in a doubles match on Friday in the Lever Cup, in which his teammate could be his long-time rival Rafael Nadal. Federer said he is feeling “at peace” after the decision to retire and wants his departure from tennis to be a celebration.

“I don’t want to make it really sad,” he said. I really want to be happy and have a ‘party’ atmosphere.” He was wearing a blue ‘blazer’ (coat) and his arms were bent till the elbows. Inside the blazer was a white polo shirt. Federer answered questions for about half an hour. He said, “I’m a little ‘nervous’ about playing because I haven’t played in so long.” He said, “I hope I can be a little competitive.”

Federer announced his retirement after several knee surgeries
After undergoing several knee surgeries, Federer announced on social media last week that he would retire after the Liver Cup. The Liver Cup is organized by their management team which will start from Friday. This will be the fifth stage in which Team Europe will face Team World. Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, who were the main rivals in Federer’s career, will also take part. In a career that started in 1990, this player has won 83 titles in 20 Grand Slam championships and other tournaments till 2020.
