New Delhi. UAE businessman Dr. Shamshir Vayil of Indian origin will give a prize money of Rs 1 crore to the footballers of Kerala. In fact, Shamshir had announced before the final of the Santosh Trophy that if the Kerala team defeated Bengal and captured the title, then he would give a prize money of Rs 1 crore to the team. He announced this by tweeting.

Kerala won the title by defeating Bengal 5-4 in the penalty shootout of the very exciting final match of the Santosh Trophy football competition. In fact, the match ended in a goalless draw in regular time, with Kerala trailing in extra time and scoring the equalizer shortly before the end of the match. Shamsheer expressed happiness over Kerala’s victory and said that it is a pleasure to honor him with a prize money of Rs 1 crore.
